Our Mission
BX T.E.A.M. exists to unite tenant associations across Melrose, Mott Haven and Port Morris in collective action. We provide tools, training, and infrastructure to strengthen tenant leadership, protect housing rights, and expand access to education, economic opportunity, and civic engagement. Through advocacy, resource-sharing, and strategic partnerships, we work to ensure tenants are not only heard—but equipped to lead lasting change in their communities.
Our Vision
Bronx Tenants Empowered and Mobilized envisions a Bronx Community where tenants live with dignity, stability, and collective power. We strive to build a resilient and inclusive community where equitable housing is the foundation for enhanced quality of life, economic opportunity, and educational advancement.
Through collaboration and advocacy, we aim to strengthen the economic viability of our neighborhoods by supporting tenant-led initiatives, attracting investment in local infrastructure, and expanding access to resources. We are committed to helping residents—especially those historically excluded—enter and thrive in underrepresented spaces, including higher education, civic leadership, entrepreneurship, and the creative economy

Our Story and Commitment
OUR story
Bronx Tenants Empowered and Mobilized (BX T.E.A.M.) began with a simple but powerful belief: when neighbors invest in connection, celebration, and care—our communities don’t just survive, they thrive.
We are a coalition of tenant associations rooted in the Melrose, Mott Haven, and Port Morris sections of the Bronx, united by a shared commitment to advancing equitable housing, enhancing quality of life, and fostering a resilient, dignified, and inclusive community for all residents. Our work is driven by love—for our people, our culture, and the place we call home.
Over two-thirds of our directors have lived in this part of the Bronx for more than 20 years. Some of us left for a time, seeking new experiences and perspectives. But each of us found our way back—not by accident, but by choice. We returned with purpose, carrying lessons from other neighborhoods and a renewed devotion to the community that shaped us.
We didn’t just come back—we came back with open hearts and open hands. We honor the lived experiences of Bronx residents and fight for conditions that reflect their worth and humanity. That belief guides everything we do—from how we organize, to how we show up, to how we build a future rooted in dignity, equity, and care.
Our journey speaks volumes: this is not just where we’re from—it’s where we belong. Our decision to re-root here is a love letter to our neighborhood. It’s a promise to fight for its future, to uplift every resident, and to build a Bronx where every tenant is empowered and every voice is valued.
